According to preliminary findings, the cattle were fed muri (puffed rice) collected from a shop in Siding Bazar, where pesticides may have contaminated the feed following recent flooding. The first 10 cattle reportedly died on Friday, with additional deaths reported the next day, while several others remain under treatment.

Veterinary teams from the Animal Husbandry Department have been deployed to treat the affected animals. Authorities have ordered a detailed inquiry to determine whether the contamination was accidental or the result of negligence or foul play.
