August 3, 2026 : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the flood-hit constituencies of Nazira, Mahmora, and Sonari across Upper Assam's Sivasagar and Charaideo districts to assess flood damage and review ongoing relief operations.

During his visit, CM Sarma announced that government officials will begin household inspections on August 9 to evaluate permanent property damage and process compensation, while also pledging health camps, agricultural aid for farmers, embankment reinforcement, and long-term flood solutions.

Additionally, the Chief Minister personally met affected residents, distributed school supplies to displaced students, and provided direct financial assistance to the families of flood victims, including ₹4 lakh each to the next of kin of 14 deceased individuals in Mahmora and ₹5 lakh each to families of five victims in Sonari.
