Assam's young aquatic talents delivered an impressive performance at the ongoing 52nd Junior National Aquatic Championship 2026, being held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. On the opening day, Jahnavi Changmai captured gold in the Group 1(A) girls’ 50m butterfly with a time of 28.42 seconds. Tirthank Pegu secured silver in the Group 1(A) boys’ 50m butterfly after clocking 25.02 seconds, while Subhrashini Priyadarshini took silver in the Group 1(A) girls’ 1500m freestyle, finishing in 18:09.67.
Assam continued its impressive run on the second day as Pegu earned his second medal—a gold—in the Group 1(A) boys’ 400m individual medley with a timing of 4:34.94. Changmai also added to the tally by picking up a bronze in the Group 1(A) girls’ 50m freestyle after touching the wall in 27.74 seconds.
Following these standout performances, Assam Swimming Association secretary Bhaskar Das extended his congratulations to the young athletes for bringing laurels to the state at the national level.
