At BioMed Bharat 2026, a two-day national Biomedical Device Innovation Hackathon hosted by GITAM Deemed to be University, GITAM president and Member of Parliament M. Sribharat emphasized the need to harness the potential of young innovators to tackle urgent healthcare challenges.
He urged greater collaboration among medicine, engineering, management, and natural sciences, highlighting that effective healthcare innovation demands expertise from multiple disciplines. Sribharat stated that hackathons should not end with prototype creation but serve as starting points for developing practical, execution-ready solutions that meet real-world medical needs.
He also highlighted the Andhra Pradesh Med Tech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam as a key medical-device manufacturing hub, underlining its role in strengthening the ecosystem for device development and production. The event aimed to motivate students and academic institutions to transform innovative ideas into usable healthcare technologies and contribute to the advancement of India's biomedical and MedTech sectors.
