Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) Managing Director Santosh Sinha on September 19, 2026, expressed concerns about alleged malpractices and irregularities in phytosanitary certification at ports. He noted that such issues could lead to export rejections and limit India’s agricultural export potential.
However, Sinha did not provide specific examples or identify involved parties. Speaking at a CII-CWC stakeholder consultation in Chennai focused on enhancing agri-export logistics, he emphasized CWC’s technical expertise and comprehensive logistics services as key solutions. Sinha called for integrated warehousing, value-added services, and coordinated logistics to enhance the quality, compliance, and reliability of agricultural shipments.
Improved coordination between certification authorities and logistics providers, along with stronger supply chain systems, could reduce export risks and rejections. These measures are expected to improve market access and strengthen the competitiveness of Indian agricultural products.
