In a major move to upgrade higher education facilities in the state, the Government of Assam has approved an investment of over ₹109 crore for comprehensive infrastructure development at Gauhati University.
Announced by Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, the initiative will span a total built-up area of more than 21,300 square meters to strengthen both academic and residential facilities across the campus.
Key Highlights of the Development Project
- Academic Infrastructure: Construction of new multidisciplinary academic buildings, updated libraries, and modern auditoriums.
- Residential & Amenities: New hostel buildings for students and updated quarters for university staff.
- Facility Upgrades: Modernization, renovation, and structural overhauls of existing facilities alongside new furniture and modern campus amenities.
This massive capital investment aims to significantly enhance the learning environment and overall campus capacity at one of Assam's premier higher learning institutions.
