JSW Group has entered India’s electric commercial vehicle (ECV) market through its subsidiary JSW Greentech Ltd., operating under the Ampstar brand. The company is investing ₹2,500 crore to build a 90-acre manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.

The plant, with an annual capacity of 15,000 vehicles, is scheduled to begin production in October 2026. At peak utilisation, it is expected to generate around ₹12,000 crore in turnover.

This facility will produce electric trucks and buses and support an integrated ecosystem including charging infrastructure, fleet operations, financing, Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), and after-sales services.

Ampstar plans to offer buses ranging from 7 to 18 metres and will initially launch a 55-tonne electric tractor-trailer. The vehicles will feature power configurations from 150 kW to 500 kW.

This investment strengthens JSW Group’s push into electric mobility and aligns with India’s growing electrification of commercial vehicles. The company aims to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels and expand its role in electric commercial transportation.
