"...no need to collect money from the public separately,' Assam to monitor individual collection of flood relief funds

The Assam government will begin the final assessment of flood-related losses across the state starting Friday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday.

This assessment is essential for determining the extent of damage and facilitating compensation for families affected by recent floods.

The government will closely monitor and restrict individual collection of flood relief funds to ensure transparency and proper use of resources.

“If anyone wants to help, they should either spend from their own resources or hand over the contribution to the government. There is no need to collect money from the public separately,” Sarma said.

The coordinated approach aims to streamline aid distribution and effectively support communities impacted by the floods.
