The Department of Collegiate Education in Karnataka has issued a notice to a candidate accused of applying for guest lecturer positions in Government First Grade Colleges under two different names and categories, despite using the same Aadhaar number, email address, and phone number in both applications.
Under one identity, the candidate claimed to meet UGC eligibility requirements, including NET and Ph.D. qualifications, while under another name, he applied under the non-UGC eligibility category. The candidate reportedly participated in the selection process via Webex login and in-camera proceedings, presenting himself as a UGC-qualified applicant.
After being selected for the guest lecturer position, he did not join the allotted college but instead sought appointment under the non-UGC cadre using the other name.
The department has now requested an explanation from the candidate regarding the use of two identities and different eligibility categories during the recruitment process.
