Drug crackdown intensifies in Jammu and Kashmir
In a significant move to combat drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir police have frozen over 500 bank accounts associated with drug peddlers and arrested nearly 2,000 individuals linked to the narcotics trade. This action was announced by the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, who addressed a press conference detailing the developments.
The IGP highlighted that besides the arrests, authorities have attached properties worth several crores belonging to those involved in the drug business. Additionally, cash valued at approximately ₹1.10 crore has been seized during the operations. These measures form part of a larger strategy to dismantle the drug networks operating within the region.
The crackdown reflects intensified efforts by law enforcement to contain drug-related crimes, which have been a growing concern in Jammu and Kashmir. By targeting financial assets and arresting key individuals, the police aim to disrupt the supply chain and reduce the availability of narcotics.
