Toxic Chemical Enters River As A Tanker Crashes Near Jatinga Bridge

A tanker containing toxic chemical, formalin, met with an accident near the Jatinga Bridge, releasing the chemical to a nearby stream which flows into the Jatinga River.

On July 2, 2026, a tanker carrying formalin crashed and caused a chemical leak, near the Jatinga Bridge on NH 27. The leaked chemical then gets into a nearby stream that flows to the Jatinga River.

Due to the dangerous effects of formalin, residents residing between Jatinga Bridge and Harangajao are advised not to use the river water for any purpose, including drinking, cooking, or washing, for the next 48 hours.

The precaution has been taken to ensure public health and safety.
