A heartbreaking incident has surfaced from Madhurapur village in Bihar’s Vaishali district, where a five-year-old girl was discovered playing inside her home, unaware that her mother, 22-year-old Asha Devi, lay dead on the bed nearby.
A Tragic End to Months of Domestic Violence
Asha Devi had married her husband, Sujeet Paswan, roughly two and a half years ago. It was the second marriage for both individuals, as each had lost a previous spouse to illness. Asha brought her five-year-old daughter, Anshika, into the marriage, while Sujeet had two children of his own.
According to Asha’s family, tension had been mounting in the household for months, primarily over recurring disputes involving the children. Her parents alleged that Asha faced persistent physical abuse and was even deprived of food in the days leading up to the tragedy. On the evening of the incident, Asha had called her relatives in distress, begging them to take her away. They assured her they would come the following morning, but by then, it was already too late.
Innocent Child Left Behind
The crime came to light after Sujeet allegedly beat Asha with a wooden stick following an argument. He then fled the scene along with his parents, leaving his young stepdaughter alone in the house with her mother’s body. When locals and authorities reached the residence, they found the child quietly playing with her toys nearby.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Following notification from neighbors, officials from the local Bidupur police station arrived at the scene alongside a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to gather evidence. Asha’s body was sent for a postmortem examination to confirm the precise cause of death.
Police have registered a case and actively launched a manhunt to trace and arrest the absconding husband and his family members.
