Saiyeda Nabiha Rahman, a young karate athlete from Nazira town, secured two gold medals at the National Karate and Open Martial Arts Championship held in Jorhat on August 5, 2026. She Represented the Sivasagar Kareng Karate Club, triumphed in both the Kata and Kumite categories.
She is the only daughter of Saiyed Moinur Rahman and Saiyeda Nafiya Haque. Nabiha’s performance was instrumental in her team winning the 'Best Team award' at the event. She was trained under Sensei Tarit Dutta and Bimal Arandhara. Her achievement has received widespread appreciation in her hometown, where locals congratulated her for enhancing Nazira’s recognition in sports.
Her success is expected to motivate more youth in the region to take up karate and martial arts disciplines, also highlighted the societal concerns over limited institutional support and infrastructure for regional athletes.
