Electing to bat first, East Zone posted a mammoth 708 runs in their first innings, spearheaded by captain Ishan Kishan's record-breaking 270 and a fine century from Kumar Kushagra (101).
In response, South Zone were bowled out for 336 despite a valiant 99 from skipper Tilak Varma. Holding a massive 372-run lead, East Zone batted through to 388/7 in their second innings—propelled by Kishan's 80 and Md Kounain Quraishi's maiden first-class century (116*)—setting an unreachable 760-run overall cushion before declaring. The match was called off shortly before tea on Day 5, securing East Zone's first title since 2012 at the very same venue.
