In the ninth and final round, the 19-year-old chess prodigy defeated Germany’s Vadim Petrovskiy with the White pieces to end the tournament with 7 points from 9 rounds.
Although ending level on points alongside Israel's Or Bronstein, Ukraine's Andrei Volokitin, and fellow Indian GM Karthik Venkataraman, Pranesh secured the championship trophy on a superior tiebreak score. The Karaikudi-born Grandmaster—presently ranked 44th in the world with a rating of 2673—also drew praise from the Indian Embassy in Hungary for showcasing India's growing dominance on the international chess circuit.
