Two key members of an interstate vehicle theft gang were killed in a police encounter following a chase near Sonapur, Assam.
- The Incident: The gang allegedly attempted to steal a vehicle near Panbazar Police Station, triggering a police pursuit. During a naka checking operation at Markadola in Sonapur, the suspects' vehicle crashed, leading to a police encounter that left two suspects dead. A third accomplice escaped and remains at large.
- The Deceased: The killed suspects were identified as Saidul Alam Laskar, a resident of Cachar, Assam, believed to be the mastermind, and Babu Singh from Imphal, Manipur.
A police search is ongoing to locate the fleeing suspect.
