The Andhra Pradesh government plans to establish a fire station in every Assembly constituency to enhance emergency services and public safety. Home and Disaster Management Minister Vangalapudi Anitha announced this initiative during the inauguration of development projects in Addanki town, Prakasam district, alongside Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar. The move aims to expand fire-fighting reach and improve disaster management infrastructure.
The Minister noted that several new fire stations have opened since the Alliance government took office. The government has also increased the number of fire tender vehicles to speed up emergency responses and reduce travel time to accident and fire sites. The State is working to lower fire emergency response times to 10–15 minutes, allowing quicker intervention to minimize loss of life and property.
This expansion is supported by ₹210 crore in financial assistance from the Centre. So far, the State government has spent ₹110 crore on purchasing fire-fighting equipment and vehicles to boost operational capacity and emergency handling. The proposed network of fire stations in each constituency aims to make emergency response more accessible across Andhra Pradesh. By increasing fire stations and vehicles, the government seeks to strengthen fire-fighting capabilities and improve preparedness throughout the State.
