The open team defeated Spain, with Arjun Erigaisi securing a crucial win over Maksim Chigaev on the second board. Arjun’s victory was especially important after a challenging start, having lost his first game and drawn his second.
His return to form gave India’s open team a significant boost as they quickly overcame Spain. The women’s team also demonstrated resilience against Mongolia, with Savitha delivering a standout performance to help India secure another 3–1 win.
With both teams undefeated after four matches, India has made a strong start to the Olympiad, showcasing consistent performances and composure on the international stage.
