Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has criticized the BCCI selection committee for their poorly timed communication with Rohit Sharma regarding his future in ODI cricket.
A recent report revealed that selectors allegedly informed Rohit he is not in India's plans for the 2027 ODI World Cup, fueling rumors that the upcoming third ODI against England at Lord's could be his final international match.
Ashwin argued that if the selectors intended to move on to younger players, they should have respected Rohit's legacy and communicated the decision immediately after India's ICC Champions Trophy victory in March 2025, rather than waiting until just a year before the World Cup.
