The Bengaluru Traffic Police have started trial traffic diversions around busy Madiwala, from August 6, between 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM to ease severe morning peak-hour congestion. The restrictions are enforced to manage the heavy influx of interstate vehicles entering via National Highway-44 (NH-44) from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry. This initiative aims to improve traffic flow and enhance the commuting experience.
The trial includes temporary changes to traffic patterns to evaluate their impact on vehicle movement and waiting times. Authorities are closely monitoring conditions to assess the effectiveness of these changes.
Vehicles from Sarjapur Road and 100 Feet Road will face temporary restrictions, with motorists redirected through alternative routes via Madiwala Market Road and Hosur Main Road.
Officials see this as part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic management at key Bengaluru junctions. Data from the trials and commuter feedback will inform future decisions on permanent traffic arrangements at Madiwala.
The police emphasized that such measures are vital for addressing urban traffic challenges, managing the growing number of vehicles efficiently, and ensuring smoother movement for buses and emergency services.
