Navan Inc., a business travel and expense management company, has acquired BoomPop, an AI-powered meetings and events platform, following strong enterprise momentum in its second quarter of FY27. Launched in 2023, BoomPop provides end-to-end event management for enterprises, including venue selection, vendor sourcing, contracts, payments and related processes.

This acquisition builds on an alliance between the two firms announced in February and strengthens Navan's presence in the meetings and events sector, where much spending remains outside managed platforms. Navan reported adjusted net income of $14 million in Q2 FY27, compared to an $8 million loss a year earlier. Subscription revenue grew 39% and usage revenue increased 35% year over year.

The company also secured enterprise agreements with Enbridge, Ingersoll Rand, Cummins and Evotec, and expanded in Latin America by acquiring Smartrips. By integrating BoomPop’s staff and technology, Navan aims to accelerate product development and offer a more seamless platform covering travel, expenses, meetings and events.

BoomPop has supported events featuring about 250,000 participants at companies such as Accenture, Amazon, Google, Salesforce and Shopify, claiming to reduce booking expenses by nearly 30% on average. However, the acquisition adds integration challenges, as Navan is already merging Smartrips, Comtravo, Reed & Mackay and Tripeur, increasing potential risks related to technical issues, operational disruptions, delays and cultural misalignment.
