Authorities in Arunachal Pradesh have rescued 19 children, all under eight years old, who were trafficked and forced into labour. According to officials, the children were reportedly enticed from their parents with promises of improved education and care. Instead, they were employed as domestic helpers and made to work in hotel-related chores.
The state police conducted the rescue operation following intelligence inputs about the trafficking activities. Three women involved in the trafficking ring were arrested during the course of the investigation.
The rescued children are currently receiving medical attention and counselling. Authorities are also working to identify safe rehabilitation options for the victims. The incident underscores the persistent issue of child trafficking and exploitation in parts of Arunachal Pradesh.
Police have launched further inquiries to dismantle the trafficking network and prevent such offences in the future.
