Union Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, accompanied by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, conducted a two-day survey of flood-damaged areas across Bihar starting September 16, 2026. Travelling by boat and tractor, the central delegation inspected destroyed maize and banana crops, damaged homes, and submerged infrastructure in Raghopur block within Vaishali district, alongside sites in Maner, Danapur, Munger, and Bhagalpur.

Official data from the Bihar Disaster Management Department showed that swollen rivers and upstream discharges affected over 49.36 lakh people across 88 blocks in 15 districts.

During the visit, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary stated that the state government commenced releasing an interim relief grant of ₹7,000 to each affected family while technical teams finalize long-term crop and property loss assessments. Chouhan noted that water levels in several surveyed sectors exceeded the 2016 flood mark by roughly one foot, confirming that specialized teams from the Agriculture and Rural Development ministries remain deployed to process central financial compensation for affected farmers and residents.
