PepsiCo India has inaugurated its fifth food manufacturing facility in Nalbari, Assam, backed by an investment of ₹778 crore. Spanning 44.2 acres, the plant will manufacture Lay’s and Uncle Chipps to supply Northeast India and West Bengal as part of PepsiCo's larger ₹5,700 crore investment strategy in India through 2030.
Key Impact on Assam:
- Agricultural Growth: PepsiCo will source chip-grade potatoes directly from the region, benefiting over 5,000 local farmers and driving demand for 60,000 tonnes of cold storage. The company already works with 600+ farmers in Assam by providing high-quality seeds, training, and direct market access.
- Employment & Economic Boost: The facility creates 700 direct and indirect jobs while stimulating growth across local packaging, warehousing, logistics, and MSMEs.
