Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his trip to Australia, discussed the critical role Australia can play in supporting India’s renewable energy ambitions.
At the event, PM Modi highlighted India’s clean energy goals, noting the strong presence of green energy companies. He explained that India is actively setting up its own factories to produce parts for solar power, wind turbines, hydro projects, and green hydrogen. He reemphasised India's big goals: hitting 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and eliminating its carbon footprint entirely by 2070. To cross the finish line faster, he called on Australia to share its advanced technology, funding, and natural resources.
The visit also included Modi receiving a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora (the community of people of Indian origin living outside India) in Melbourne, underscoring strong cultural ties alongside the strategic partnership.
