Manipur security forces arrested two militants from banned groups on Monday for allegedly running extortion schemes in the state.
In Jiribam district, authorities arrested a 22-year-old member of the Kuki National Front near the Nungkhal bridge and seized a homemade pistol, a magazine, and six bullets from him. On the same day, a 38-year-old member of the People's Liberation Army was arrested in Bishnupur district on extortion charges.
Additionally, police detained another individual on Tuesday for allegedly demanding money from drivers in Imphal West district.
Following these incidents, Manipur Director General of Police Mukesh Singh visited Noney district, instructing officers to intensify action against extortion, secure the region, and fast-track investigations into pending cases.
