A special court in Guwahati has granted bail to the two Personal Security Officers of late singer Zubeen Garg, Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora, in Case No. 24 of 2026. However, this relief does not lead to their immediate release. The officers were arrested over allegations related to Garg’s movable property and financial transactions. The prosecution accuses them of criminal breach of trust, dishonest misappropriation, and criminal conspiracy.
During the bail hearing, the defence challenged the prosecution’s interpretation of certain monetary transactions, arguing that they were wrongly linked to alleged misuse of funds. Their bail petitions were registered as 1312 of 2026 and 1313 of 2026.
Baishya and Bora remain in custody because they are also among seven accused facing charges in the separate case concerning Zubeen Garg’s death. The other accused in that case are Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddhartha Sharma, Amritprabha Mahanta, Sandipan Garg, and Shekharjyoti Goswami. Since proceedings in the death case continue, the two officers will remain jailed unless they obtain bail there as well.
