The Assam Sahitya Sabha has posthumously awarded the prestigious title of Sangeet Sudhakar to Zubeen Garg, one of Assam's most influential musicians.
Sabha General Secretary Debajit Bora announced the decision at a press conference held at the Dr. Mahendra Nath Bora Memorial Conference Hall in Bhagawati Prasad Barooah Bhawan. He stated that the honour was approved by the organisation's executive committee and governing body, following a resolution adopted during the Panchratna-Guwahati session.
The formal awarding ceremony is scheduled for July 30, 2026, at the Sangeetacharya Lakshmiram Barua Sadan in Guwahati.
