Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore’s Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism will organise a cookery competition from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on September 26 at Darling Residency in Vellore town to commemorate World Diabetes Day 2026. The competition, themed “Flavours of Our Heritage – Prepare a diabetes-friendly lunch from Tamil Nadu or Andhra Cuisine,” aims to blend traditional regional dishes with healthy dietary practices for diabetes care.
This initiative highlights the importance of nutrition and diet in preventing and managing diabetes, focusing on balanced portions and wholesome home-cooked meals. By showcasing familiar Tamil Nadu and Andhra recipes, the event intends to demonstrate how traditional food can support healthier eating habits and stresses the value of eating meals at appropriate times for dietary management.
Through this cookery competition, CMC uses regional culinary traditions as a platform to raise awareness about healthy eating and the role of lifestyle and nutrition in managing diabetes.
