Police in Thane have registered a case against five individuals for allegedly defrauding a 28-year-old man of ₹70 lakh by promising him a clerk-cum-typist position in Maharashtra's revenue and forest department.
To win his trust, the accused provided a forged appointment letter complete with fake seals and signatures of senior Mantralaya officials, as well as a counterfeit official government ID. Over the span of a year, the victim made multiple payments totaling ₹70 lakh, but when the job failed to materialize and he requested his money back, the suspects refused and threatened him.
Following a complaint, the Narpoli police filed charges against all five individuals for cheating, forgery, and criminal intimidation.
