Four Workers Killed at Assam's Metal Processing Industry, Cachar

At least four workers were killed in a suspected cylinder explosion at an iron casting unit in Cachar district of Assam on Sunday (July 26, 2026), police said.

CACHAR: A powerful molten metal explosion killed four workers on Sunday at Kade Global Infrastructure LLP’s plant in Pangram, Assam. The blast occurred around 11:00 am during the iron casting process, initially suspected to be an LPG cylinder mishap.

The deceased were identified as Appu Boraik (32), Kiron Munda (28), Shyamal Gaur, and Sagar Nath from Agartala, Tripura. Emergency teams rescued several injured workers, shifting them to Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

Assam Minister Kaushik Rai visited the site and announced a multi-agency safety probe.


Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has approved ₹5 lakh in ex-gratia financial aid for the families of each deceased worker.
