Sivasagar: As devastating floods continue to affect large parts of Assam, Hemkunt Foundation has expanded its relief operations in the state, adopting Sivasagar, one of the worst-affected districts, to provide round-the-clock humanitarian assistance.
The foundation said its teams are working on the ground to reach isolated villages, distribute essential supplies and support families affected by the floods. In a recent update, the organisation said the disaster has impacted 4.45 lakh people across 631 villages, with relief being delivered through 90 active relief camps.
Harteerath Singh Ahluwalia, Director of Hemkunt Foundation, said the organisation would continue its relief efforts until normalcy returns. He also appealed to the public to contribute towards the ongoing humanitarian response.
Ahluwalia has previously shared stories highlighting public support for Assam's relief efforts, including a contribution from an airport staff member who donated money from his own pocket after noticing boxes marked "Assam Relief." The foundation said such gestures continue to inspire its volunteers as rescue and relief operations intensify across the flood-affected region.
