On Thursday, July 16, civil society organisations in Hyderabad held a candlelight vigil near the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue at Necklace Road. The event expressed solidarity with activist Sonam Wangchuk, whose indefinite hunger strike entered its 19th day. The protest raised concerns over the alleged NEET paper leak, with demonstrators demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
As the evening progressed, more people joined the gathering, turning it into a larger show of support for Wangchuk's fast and calls for reforms in India's education and competitive examination processes.
