The Girijyothi Farmer Producer Company—a collective of over 700 tribal farmers from Idukki’s Anchunad hills, Kerela—has launched "Anjunad," a packaged drinking water brand entirely managed by tribal communities.

Supported by NABARD and the High Range Development Society, the initiative aims to empower local tribal families and secure fair prices for their products by eliminating exploitative middlemen.

Currently distributing one-litre bottles across Marayur, Kanthalloor, and Munnar, the company plans to eventually source water directly from local valleys, set up a centralized bottling plant, and even open a restaurant serving traditional tribal food.
