It has deactivated 3.04 crore user IDs and suspended another 6.33 crore IDs flagged for suspicious activity, aiming to prevent unauthorized and fraudulent bookings. The crackdown targets accounts suspected of using fake or multiple IDs to make bulk train ticket bookings. Such practices allow tickets to be resold at inflated prices, reducing availability for genuine passengers at standard rates. IRCTC's action seeks to limit this misuse and improve ticket access for legitimate travellers.
