The sixth edition of the J&K Bank presents JK Tyre Rally of Himalayas 2026 was officially flagged off at Dev Lok, 15th Mile, near Manali, marking the start of a major cross-country motorsport event in the Himalayan region.
The rally features 140 competitors across Moto, Extreme, and TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) categories. Participants will navigate a challenging route through Kaza, Jispa, Padum, and Pensi La, concluding the competition in Padum, Zanskar, on Wednesday. The demanding terrain and high-altitude roads will test their driving, riding, endurance, and navigation skills.
The 2026 edition holds special significance as a tribute to Hari Singh, also known as the ‘Gypsy King,’ a five-time National Rally Championship winner and a notable figure in Indian rallying. The event celebrates his contributions while linking the legacy of veteran drivers with a new generation of competitors.
Manali MLA Bhuvneshwar Gaur, who attended the ceremonial flag-off as the chief guest, highlighted the region's deep connections to rallying. He recalled how earlier rallies attracted international participants and featured vehicles like Ambassadors, Fiats, and Mahindras. He also emphasized the scenic beauty of the Himalayas as a key attraction, underscoring the region's unique appeal for motorsport events.
