In Brief:

  1. Kedarnath Yatra is halted due to heavy rain and landslides in Rudraprayag.
  2. Debris blocked the Gaurikund trekking route and Kedarnath Highway near Munkatiya.
  3. Pilgrims evacuated to safety while SDRF and police attempt clearance.
  4. Continuous rain/rockfalls delay work; yatra remains suspended until routes are safe.

The Kedarnath Yatra was suspended on Thursday following heavy rainfall and landslides in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district. A major landslide blocked the trekking route near Gaurikund, while falling debris and boulders disrupted traffic along the Kedarnath Highway near Munkatiya.

In response, local authorities immediately halted the pilgrimage, evacuated stranded pilgrims to safe locations, and deployed SDRF, police, and administration teams for clearance and restoration. However, continuous rain and falling rocks have hampered repair efforts.

District Magistrate Vishal Mishra inspected the affected areas, and officials confirmed the pilgrimage will remain suspended until the routes are fully cleared and declared safe.
