Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain has secured India's first assured medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow even before the opening ceremony. Seeded No. 1 in the women's 75kg middleweight division, she advanced directly to the semifinals after receiving a bye in a compact five-boxer field.
Under the tournament's format, both losing semifinalists are awarded bronze medals, guaranteeing Lovlina at least a podium finish before she opens her campaign against T.K.B.P. Taafaki on July 31.
