In Brief
- Non-eKYC households will get only smaller LPG refills at market prices from Oct 1.
- Consumers with completed BAA will continue receiving subsidized refills at regulated prices.
- Smaller refill options include 5 kg and 10 kg cylinders only for non-eKYC households.
- The move aims to encourage eKYC compliance and manage subsidy distribution effectively.
Starting October 1, households that have not completed electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) verification will be eligible only for smaller liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) refills of 5 kg or 10 kg, which will be priced at market rates. This change comes as part of measures to regulate subsidy distribution and promote eKYC compliance among LPG consumers.
Consumers who have completed the beneficiary Aadhaar authentication (BAA) process will continue receiving LPG refills at the regulated retail selling price, inclusive of applicable government subsidies. The revised policy intends to differentiate between verified and non-verified users, ensuring subsidies reach eligible households.
This regulatory update affects the delivery and pricing structure of LPG refills nationwide. The decision also aligns with broader government efforts to digitize consumer verification processes and optimize subsidy allocation.
