The historic Red Fort in Delhi will be closed to visitors from July 15 until August 15 to allow preparations for the 80th Independence Day celebrations. Access to the fort on August 15 will be restricted to government-issued pass holders, with heightened security measures in place.
The closure was mandated by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Rules, 1959. Officials described this as a routine yearly step taken before the national event to ensure security and manage event arrangements.
