Actor Pradeep Rawat passed away on Tuesday evening at the age of 74 following a battle with cancer. He was receiving treatment in Mumbai, having been initially admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital before being moved to a cancer hospital in Bhiwandi around ten days prior.
Spanning a career of over three decades across Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema, he gained early prominence as Ashwatthama in B.R. Chopra's TV series Mahabharat (1988) and worked in major films such as Sarfarosh and Lagaan. He was widely recognized for playing the antagonist in the Tamil hit Ghajini (2005) and reprising the role in its 2008 Hindi remake alongside Aamir Khan, as well as making his Telugu debut in S.S. Rajamouli's Sye (2004).
