Assam's flood situation remains severe, with the death toll reaching 41 and over 7.27 lakh people affected across 25 districts. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said more than 100 people are missing and warned that the death toll could rise further.
The Indian Army, Air Force, NDRF, SDRF, and Assam Rifles are conducting large-scale rescue and relief operations. Under Operation Jal Rahat, the Army has rescued over 700 stranded people, while IAF helicopters are airdropping relief supplies. The state has also set up 469 relief camps, providing shelter to around 18,000 displaced people.
Floodwaters have submerged roads, disrupted rail services, and led to the cancellation or rescheduling of more than 30 trains. With the IMD forecasting more rainfall and major rivers, including the Brahmaputra, flowing above the danger level, authorities remain on high alert as the flood situation continues to be critical.
