A policeman, Ashiq Hussain from Budgam, was killed after being shot by terrorists on Wednesday along the Anantnag-Kokernag road in south Kashmir.
The attack occurred around 12:30 p.m. while he was deployed on Amarnath yatra security duty, breaking a recent period of calm in the region.
Following the incident, security forces rushed reinforcements to the area and launched a comprehensive search operation to trace and apprehend the attackers.
Authorities are intensifying their efforts to ensure regional security and prevent further violent acts.
