Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday (July 26) confirmed that the state government has intensified efforts to restore electricity in flood-hit districts as the state slowly recovers from the recent flood crisis. The restoration process is underway in districts including Sivasagar, Jorhat, Charaideo, Dhubri, and Bongaigaon, though over 27,000 consumers still remain affected.
As power supply was suspended in the worst-affected districts to prevent electrocution and protect critical infrastructure, the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) is currently conducting comprehensive safety inspections before reconnecting electricity in affected areas. Additionally, 619 distribution transformers, eight 11 kV feeders, one 33/11 kV substation, and three faulty 33 kV transmission lines remain out of service.
