A portion of the century-old clock tower building at Kozhikode railway station collapsed on Thursday forenoon, sending debris onto Platform 2 and Track 3.
While passengers were present on the platform at the time of the incident, no one was directly beneath the structure when it gave way, and no injuries or casualties were reported.
Railway authorities later clarified that the collapse was part of a planned demolition under the ongoing Kozhikode railway station redevelopment project and not an accident.
Train services at the station remain completely unaffected.
