Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka and several team members were detained by Assam Police in Guwahati on Sunday, just before a scheduled regional volunteers' meeting, according to Ranka and CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke.
Ranka had arrived in Guwahati on Saturday as part of CJP's activities in Assam. His schedule included meetings with families affected by the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, visits to schools to assess conditions, and interactions with CJP volunteers.
In an online video, Ranka stated, "Himanta Biswa Sarma is scared that if we show the reality of schools in Assam, the country will come to know about their condition."
