A 12-year-old Class 6 student named Guru Kiran collapsed and died on July 8 at the Sterling English Residential School in north Bengaluru.

Following the incident, the boy's family accused the school administration of a lack of transparency and alleged that corporal punishment by a teacher led to his death.

According to the student's uncle, the boy was reportedly beaten by a teacher and forced to run three laps around the school grounds before he collapsed.

In response to the allegations, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mithun Kumar G. K. asked the grieving family members to submit their statements in writing so that the investigation could officially proceed.
