Lawyer Rakesh Kumar Saini has filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Delhi High Court seeking urgent medical treatment and force-feeding for climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar since June 28.

According to the petition, Wangchuk's health has significantly deteriorated after he lost over 8 kg and experienced a drop in blood sugar levels during the hunger strike. The protest demands the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia recognized the urgency of the situation and asked the Central and Delhi government to submit their stands by the next day.
