The Department of Fertilizers, under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, announced on August 30, 2026, a major technological upgrade to the Integrated Fertilizer Management System (iFMS). Developed with technical support from the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the platform oversees a network of over 14 crore Aadhaar-verified buyers, 2.5 lakh retail outlets, and 7 crore metric tonnes of annual fertilizer distribution, supporting nearly ₹2 lakh crore in direct-benefit-transfer (DBT) subsidies annually.
Under the newly notified framework, iFMS has been integrated with state digitized land records, Haryana's Meri Fasal Mera Byora (MFMB) portal, and the central AgriStack database. The integration enables farmers to pre-book required fertilizer quotas using their digital AgriStack IDs. Retail point-of-sale (PoS) devices will verify purchase quantities against verified landholdings and crop types, preventing illegal diversion of subsidized fertilizers to non-agricultural industries. Additionally, the platform integrates GPS-based vehicle tracking for transit dispatches and automates subsidy processing through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) e-Bill portal.
