Billionaire technology executive Elon Musk has taken on a new advisory role within US President Donald Trump's administration, returning to government service to co-lead a strategic defense initiative dubbed 'Project Meridian'. The appointment follows Musk's earlier departure from his post as co-chief of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

'Project Meridian' is tasked with examining the future landscape of defense and modern warfare. The initiative will work directly with the Pentagon to identify, evaluate, and integrate advanced military technologies and weapon systems required for future combat readiness. Joining Musk on the leadership team are Anduril Industries Chief Executive Officer Palmer Luckey and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.
